Pennington Borough is an independent municipality located entirely within the boundaries of Hopewell Township. Pennington together with Hopewell and Hopewell Township comprises the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.
Founded in 1708, the town of Pennington is located in the heart of the Hopewell Valley. Pennington has evolved into a diverse and active community. Its rural flavor and small scale offers a refreshing contrast to the bustle of the near-by New York-Philadelphia corridor yet its proximity to Princeton allows the Pennington residents full access to all the cultural, educational and economic activities the area has to offer. The village population is 2,537. The Township population is 11,590.

Average class size is 16-27. There are numerous day care and pre-school centers in Hopewell Township.
